Welded Seam Repair

Modern outdoor clothing is often made with "welded" seams. While we believe that stitched seams will always last longer, there are some reasons to repair your gear with this technique. We are happy to tell you when we think this technique will work for your application.

Welded pockets can also be repaired or re-welded. We use heat activated adhesives applied with pressure to actually glue the seams together.

This welded seam in the bottom hem is a chronic problem area for this manufacturer. In the first image, you can see the remnants of the adhesive tape used to "weld" the two fabrics together. We can sometimes re-weld the nylon to the the garment, though in this case we replaced the entire cord channel and sewed it for superior strength and longevity.

Heat welded repairs can also be used to apply "hot patches" to garments and packs. By cutting patches with a hot knife and using our heat and pressure sensitive adhesives, we are able to create custom patches that meet your needs for abrasion, durability, waterproofness and cost.
